A Few Practical Tips
- Get the wristlet. Disney’s offering Mickey and Donald-themed gift card wristlets for a $15 minimum activation — genuinely useful for keeping cash off you while you’re grazing your way around the world.
- Some booths open later. A handful of marketplaces, including India, Coastal Eats, and The Alps, don’t open until October 2, so double-check dates if you’re visiting earlier in the run.
- Pace yourselves. With this many booths, it’s tempting to try to hit everything in one day. I’d rather split it across two shorter visits than end the day too full (and too tired) to enjoy the evening entertainment.
- Bring the Lightning Lane strategy you already know. EPCOT gets busy during festival season, so if you haven’t checked out my Lightning Lane planner, now’s a great time.
- Watch for bus and transportation changes. If you’re staying at a resort near Disney Springs, it’s worth a quick read of my post on the recent bus policy changes before you plan your EPCOT commute.
What Disney World Is Actually Like, September Through November
This stretch of fall is one of my favorite times to send clients to Disney World, because you’re really getting two very different trips depending on when you go.
Visit before November, and you’re catching Food & Wine season layered right on top of Halloween. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party runs several nights a week through the end of October, so it’s completely possible to spend your day working through World Showcase booths and then head into the Magic Kingdom that same night for trick-or-treating and the Halloween fireworks. If you’re building a trip around this combo, I’ve got a full breakdown in my MNSSHP 2026 complete guide — dates, party-night strategy, and what to actually prioritize once you’re inside.
Visit in November, and the whole mood shifts. Halloween decor comes down and the parks start transforming for the holidays — wreaths go up on Main Street, the massive Christmas tree returns to Magic Kingdom, and by mid-November you can catch Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. The festival is still running (it wraps November 21), so there’s a real window in mid-to-late November where you can walk World Showcase for festival food during the day and then experience full Christmas decor and a Christmas party at night. It’s honestly an underrated combo that a lot of guests don’t realize is possible.
Either way, this is a good stretch to visit if you’re trying to avoid the very worst of the summer heat and crowds while still catching a major seasonal event.
Where to Stay If You’re Visiting for the Festival
If EPCOT is the main event for your trip, staying close to it makes a bigger difference than people expect — you can pop back to your resort to rest, change, or cool off in the middle of the day instead of trekking all the way from another part of property.
Two Disney Vacation Club resorts sit walking distance from EPCOT’s International Gateway entrance: Disney’s BoardWalk Villas and Disney’s Beach Club Villas. Both let you walk straight into World Showcase near the France pavilion in a matter of minutes, and BoardWalk in particular puts you right on the boardwalk itself, with easy access to Hollywood Studios via the walking path or Friendship boat as well.
If you’re not a DVC owner, that doesn’t mean these resorts are off the table. I help clients book DVC point rentals at a discounted rate compared to booking these rooms directly through Disney, which is often the most cost-effective way to stay at a walking-distance resort like these for a festival-focused trip. If that’s something you want to look into for your dates, reach out through my free planning form below and I’ll pull availability and pricing for you.
If BoardWalk or Beach Club aren’t quite what you’re looking for, there are a few other solid options near EPCOT. Disney’s Riviera Resort is another DVC property, connected to EPCOT by the Skyliner, so it’s an easy, scenic ride rather than a walk. If you’d rather stay somewhere non-Disney-owned, Disney’s Swan and Dolphin are both walking distance to World Showcase and tend to have more flexible rates, plus they’re part of the Marriott family if you collect Bonvoy points. And for a more budget-friendly stay that’s still an easy trip to EPCOT, Caribbean Beach, Pop Century, and Art of Animation are all connected via the Skyliner as well. Each of these comes with its own trade-offs in price, distance, and amenities, so it really comes down to what matters most for your trip — walkability, budget, or something in between.
A Few Things Worth Packing
Between the walking, the weather, and the sheer number of booths you’ll want to hit, a few things make festival days noticeably easier:
- A lightweight crossbody or festival-friendly bag — you’ll want your hands free for snacking
- A portable phone charger — you’ll be taking way more photos of food than you expect
- A refillable water bottle — helps offset all the drink flights and keeps you from overspending on bottled water
- Comfortable, broken-in walking shoes — World Showcase is deceptively long end to end
