Lightning Lane Guide 2027: How to Choose the Right Attractions at Every Disney World Park: Free Canva Template

Lightning Lane can feel like a whole new language the first time you open My Disney Experience — Multi Pass, Single Pass, Premier Pass, arrival windows, purchase windows. This guide breaks down exactly how Lightning Lane works at each Walt Disney World park in 2027, plus which attractions are worth prioritizing first. And if you’d rather skip the spreadsheet, grab our free printable Lightning Lane Priority Planner at the bottom of this post.

What Is Lightning Lane, Exactly?

Lightning Lane is Disney World’s paid line-skipping system, and it comes in three forms:

  • Lightning Lane Multi Pass — during your purchase window (7 days before arrival if staying onsite, 3 days before your visit if not), you pre-select up to 3 attraction times per park per day: one from a “Group A” of the park’s most in-demand rides, and up to two more from a larger “Group B.” Once you tap into your first selection you unlock the ability to make another Multi Pass selection — and this repeats after each subsequent tap-in, so you can keep booking one new Multi Pass ride at a time throughout the day, subject to availability.
  • Lightning Lane Single Pass — a one-time, one-ride pass sold separately for each park’s single hottest attraction (think Seven Dwarfs Mine Train or Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance). These are not included in Multi Pass at all.
  • Lightning Lane Premier Pass — an all-access, one-time-per-attraction pass covering every available Lightning Lane experience in one park for one day, including the Single Pass attraction.

Prices change daily based on demand and are only shown once you’re inside the My Disney Experience app, so there’s no fixed price chart to plan around — only a purchase strategy.

When Can You Buy Lightning Lane Passes?

This is the part that trips up most first-time planners, and it’s worth setting a phone alarm for:

  • Disney Resort hotel guests (plus Swan, Dolphin, Swan Reserve, and Shades of Green): can purchase starting 7 days before check-in, at 7:00 AM Eastern, for their full length of stay.
  • Everyone else — off-site guests, date-based ticket holders, and Annual Passholders: can purchase starting 3 days before their park visit, also at 7:00 AM Eastern.

Valid park admission (and a park reservation, if required for your ticket type) has to be in place before the system will let you buy anything. If you’re staying on-site, this 7-day head start is one of the more underrated perks of a Disney Resort stay — it’s an extra 4 days of access before everyone else.

Magic Kingdom: Where to Focus

Magic Kingdom is the only park with two Single Pass attractions — Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and TRON Lightcycle / Run — so budget for both if they’re must-dos. For Multi Pass, Group A (choose 1) includes Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Jungle Cruise, Peter Pan’s Flight, Space Mountain, and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Space Mountain and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure tend to sell out arrival windows the fastest, so rank those first if they’re on your list. Group B has 13 additional experiences to fill your other two selections, including Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, and “it’s a small world.”

EPCOT: Where to Focus

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is EPCOT’s Single Pass attraction. For Multi Pass Group A, you’re choosing between Frozen Ever After, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and Test Track — all three are genuinely high-demand, so this is the toughest single decision of any park. Group B rounds out with eight options like Soarin’ Across America, Spaceship Earth, and Mission: SPACE, which are easier to grab same-day if your first two selections don’t cover them.

Hollywood Studios: Where to Focus

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance remains the park’s Single Pass attraction. Multi Pass Group A includes Slinky Dog Dash, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets — Slinky Dog Dash is consistently the hardest of the four to get same-day, so prioritize it if it matters to your group. Group B leans heavily toward shows and family attractions, including Toy Story Mania!, Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, and several live entertainment options.

Animal Kingdom: Where to Focus

Animal Kingdom is the simplest park to plan: Avatar Flight of Passage is the Single Pass attraction, and every other Lightning Lane experience — Kilimanjaro Safaris, Expedition Everest, Na’vi River Journey, Kali River Rapids, Festival of the Lion King, Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond!, Feathered Friends in Flight!, and Zootopia: Better Zoogether! — falls into one Multi Pass group where you choose up to 3. Kilimanjaro Safaris is worth booking for an early arrival window specifically, since animal activity is highest before the Florida heat sets in.

Can You Use Lightning Lane Across Multiple Parks?

Yes, if you have Park Hopper admission. Once you’ve redeemed your Multi Pass selections in your first park, you can make a Multi Pass selection in a second park you’ve hopped to that day, subject to availability. This is worth factoring into your planning if you tend to park hop in the afternoon.
