Animal Kingdom doesn’t get enough credit for its character lineup — some of the best (and rarest) meet and greets at Walt Disney World live here, and a few of them aren’t even in the app. Here’s where to find them all.
Finding Characters in the App
Tap the map pin at the bottom of My Disney Experience, swipe to Characters, filter by park, and you’ll get locations and appearance times for everyone scheduled that day. But a few Animal Kingdom favorites are pop-up only, so keep reading.
The Oasis
Roughly an hour into the park day, Rafiki takes his post in the Oasis, with Timon tagging in every half hour or so to keep the energy up — and if you’re lucky, talk him into a quick dance. Just before you hit the bridge into Discovery Island, look to your right for Pocahontas, tucked into one of the most naturally beautiful greeting spots anywhere at Walt Disney World.
Conservation Station
Take the Wildlife Express from Harambe Station (near the Kilimanjaro Safaris exit) to catch Bluey and Bingo in an interactive play session — think Magic Asparagus and Keepy Uppy rather than a standard photo line.
Discovery Island
Officers Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde are working the beat just outside Zootopia: Better Zoogether, stationed near the Tree of Life. It’s one of the most in-demand greetings in the park these days, so plan on some wait time if this one’s a must for your crew.
The Hidden Gems
This is the part most guests miss: Russell from Up sometimes wanders the Discovery Trails near the bridge to Africa, and his appearances often don’t show up in the app. Kevin the bird and Dug the dog also roam Discovery Island — Dug will “talk” back if you ask him about squirrels, thanks to his voice box. If your family loves surprise character moments, this is where to linger.
Safari-Dressed Classics
Animal Kingdom is the only park where Mickey and friends dress for adventure. Donald and Daisy greet near Garden Gate Gifts in the Oasis, Mickey and Minnie are in their khakis at Adventurers Outpost near the Asia bridge, and Goofy and Pluto post up just past the Asia entrance. If you’re chasing unique character photos for a scrapbook or social reel, this is the set to collect.
